Speakers

Speakers

Our speakers exchange their expertise for a vacation cruise for two. Speakers do not receive remuneration for their services or supplies. Selling of products such as books, CDs and DVDs is only allowed after receiving prior approval, obtained through your booking agent, Posh Talks, when submitting your proposal. The speaker and guest are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the ship, gratuities on board, and supplies.
The speaker pays a nominal placement fee to our office of $50.00 per day, whether or not they take a guest.
In order to be considered for a speaking assignment, we will need a fully completed application form submitted, faxed or mailed to us, a brief bio (maximum 100 words written in the third person), proposed topics with a brief one sentence description, current professional-looking head shot photo, and in some cases, a video or You Tube link.
See more detailed information below.
Each speaker should be prepared for a one-hour session (45 minute presentation with 15 minutes for questions and answers) normally on sea days. When submitting your proposal you should always include one additional presentation “just in case”. Each talk or project should not hinge on having been to a previous session. The Cruise Director/Programs Administrator determines the schedule for the presenters. There are some areas of expertise that require a different schedule. See more detailed information about those below.

Ideally, we would like to meet all of our speakers in person, but realize that this is logistically impossible.  It is vital that you keep us informed of any changes with your information.

GUIDELINES
Here are a few specific requirements for the following expertise:

Crafts/Fine Art
Specify background in this field. We require at least 3 photos of projects you will be teaching. Projects should be completed in a one-hour session. The objective is to please the passenger with their accomplishment and teach them a new skill that they will want to share with their friends and family. On longer voyages you can teach a two-day project, but you must also have something new on the second day for drop-ins. Supplies are your responsibility.

Bridge
You must be a Certified Director and Life Master. Please note ACOL may be required on some
cruises so you must be familiar with the ACOL procedures and always carry the rule book. All sanctioned ships supply boards; you are responsible for all other paperwork necessary to teach your one-hour class in the morning and run the game in the afternoon.

Dance
A recent 5-10 minute video or YouTube link is required demonstrating one of your classes. Along with a head-shot and a full-length photo in dance attire must be submitted. In addition to your one-hour class, you are expected to attend evening functions to get the passengers out of their chairs and dancing.

Port Enhancement
List specific areas of the world where you have expertise. We require 3 sample titles with a brief one-sentence description of each of those areas. Your talks must include state-of-the-art Power Point presentations. A recent 5-10 minute video or YouTube link of one of your talks is also required.

Face Painter and Balloon Artist
Specify background in this field. We require at least 3 photos of your projects. A rule of thumb is that for a seven day cruise, you can expect to be available for eight 2-hour sessions. Supplies are your responsibility.

Watercolor Artist

Specify background in this field. We require at least 3 photos of your projects. Supplies are your responsibility.

All Other Speakers

Specify background in your expertise. We require 3 sample titles with a brief one-sentence description of each of those areas. Each talk must include a state-of-the-art PowerPoint presentation.
